July 17, 2022 – Eric Siegrist, Founder and Executive Director of the Michigan Youth Education Fund was awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship by the Lakes Area Rotary Club. Eric was named a Harris Fellow for his founding of the Michigan Youth Education Fund, and commitment to reducing barriers and costs for students participating in academic, extracurricular activities.

The Lakes Area Rotary Club awarded Siegrist the Paul Harris Fellowship at their 75th anniversary picnic. The organization recognized other community leaders and their contributions, dedicated a peace pole gifted to the Village of Wolverine Lake, and celebrated the work of Lakes Area rotary over the past 75 years.

The Paul Harris Fellowship is the highest level of recognition in Rotary, and is given to a Rotarian or member of the community that has made tangible and significant strides for the furtherance of better understanding and friendly relations among peoples of the world. According to Rotary International, “Continuing the legacy of our founder, the Paul Harris Fellow program recognizes individuals who have contributions made in their name, of $1,000 to The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International. The honor was established in 1957 to show appreciation for contributions that support our Annual Fund, PolioPlus, or an approved Foundation grant.”

After being awarded the fellowship, Siegrist spoke to the organization and said, “Thank you all for this honor, and a special thank you to Paul and Lorrie McVey for their continued guidance and support. The work we do would not be possible without you all. Thank you!”
